It's more than a little bit awkward when you pay 5 dollars for a store to land you a plastic disc worth at most 50 cents and which use a decades old semi-mechanical technology to store and read data that end up being unreadable by a state of the art Operating System running on a more than decent and recent workstation.
And god that sentence was long.
But that particular problem has been there for as long as I've been using Ubuntu. And each time I've said the same thing.. "why I'm I renting those plastic disc instead of just downloading an illegal version that just work".
Fortunately, I've finally found my way around and it was surprisingly simple;
sudo aptitude install libdvdcss2
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
